Course Outline
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BASE
Operating a boom truck zero to eight ton crane takes a high degree of accuracy and precision. We’ll start by showing you how to make sense of load charts and correctly calculate load on equal-length slings.
SETTING UP YOUR EQUIPMENT
Step by step, you will learn how to properly set up your crane’s equipment from rigging hardware to wire rope, and outriggers and stabilizers. You will also work through the various operational signals and communications.
HIGH VOLTAGE EQUALS HIGH RISK
There’s no room for error when you’re working near high voltage. Here you will learn how to operate safely in this high stakes environment.
FOR SAFETY’S SAKE
Know your manuals, regulations and policies inside and out. In this section, we’ll cover an overview of those derived from the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as important training standards from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
BEFORE YOU HIT THE ROAD
Here, we will walk you through a rigorous pre-operational inspection to ensure you’re ready to get behind the wheel of our boom trucks and operate a zero to eight ton crane.
A FULL DAY OF FIELD OPERATION
You will have a full eight hours to practice field-testing your new boom truck operator knowledge and skills, before taking your ministry examination.
